Okidoke.... Its a horizontal Australian built Riptide. Probably late 50's... thought it might have been older. They have one in a museum here in Sydney. Actually, looking at the exhaust port and using Seagulls as a benchmark of design, the age would be about right. http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/co...

Not a seagull... but what... Twin

Just found on ebay and bought (cheap). What on Earth is it? Description said seagull but obviously not. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/cad69/8a81_1.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/cad69/902f_1.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/cad69/7fbb_1.jpg Twin cylinder. Hugo.

How come the word fettling is used a lot here when there is no evidence of metal casting?

Not sure about x.mas but happy solstice.

Copper fuel pipe

I have seen a few restorations of early gulls where the fuel line has been replaced with a modern arrangement. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to make up an original copper line. Never having done this before and without pulling one apart is it just a matter of aquiring some copper pipe and sliding p...

I'm rather hoping that it is the same. Shape looks correct but have to wait to see a side elevation to see if it has same amount of rake.

Thanks for that. It's coming by seamail (as fitting for a seagull part) so will take a couple of months.

Hugo.

How come the above add/picture doesn't have fins on the head/block? if it's a '37?

I'm assuming the raked back prop didn't come out with the early SD's? The one bought (not received yet) seems to be slightly raked but not as much as some of the others.

Pictures, Pictures we need Pictures!

And no doubt there were plenty of pitchers involved too.

Have a feeling it might predate the SD, tho as it is going on an early one(SD '42) it could well be correct.

1939 (transitional?) As per main site tho looks to me more like a later SD.

Authenticity is an inexact art with seagulls!

SD Prop.. I hope!

I just won this on ebay. It looks to me to be an early 102 swept back prop. Can this be confirmed?

NZ Race

I'm considering popping over to have a dekko at your race. Thought I might hire a campervan and spend a week or so there. Am I right in thinking you guys are about an hour and a half south of Auckland? I've long had the idea of having a similar event in Sydney but probably need to conjure up more lo...

I would take the nut/plate off and check to see if everything is there first! May just need the drill trick to energise it.

20 thou for plug and points. No need to take flywheel off just remove nut and plate. I find the early 102's have a lot less power than a century and forties whizz around with a high pitch whine!
