Re: Ive got a few seagulls im selling

Hi Niander

Don't be shy, give us a clue to what they are. I'm in Ayrshire so it would be nice to know what's for sale before setting off up the road to Oban.

Re: ignition

It wasnt you who broke down it was me.It was at the halfway overnight stay point at Rangiriri. The grub screw on the bottom plate of the mag/flywheel had come loose. It was a Charles from the UK so guessed that it might have been you.It was 2008 when they had a television crew filming the event.Anyway...

Re: Proposal for a Seagull Owners Association

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, is this a can of worms being opened??? Yes it would be nice to be official but what would be gained? I'm sure I'm not alone when I ask who would benefit from this? I see from earlier posts there are people happy to have information which may or may not interest Seagull owners however t...

Re: 40+ running help please?

Hi Tom You've got a small problem which has been spoken about many times on the forum. There could be a few answers so if you have a look through the posts I'm sure you'll find many suggestions. I would suggest if it's been sitting for 4 years it would be a good idea to give the carb a good clean. T...

Re: Just bought some of these off the Bay

Obviously don't know what we're talking about here, maybe one is best sticking to oily engines.

    Re: stripped down FP pics

Hi With a little patience and guidance things have gone good. The honing was quite easy and the engine is now built and ready to have the throttle cable fitted and then fingers crossed. The three legged deglazer from Machine Mart made it an idiot proof job. Will let you know if the baby starts. Comp...

Nice H-A, however they won't last long cleaning out ports but they do the job well. I use these burs daily in the dental business and I get the old ones for cleaning the ports out, does a nice clean job.

    Re: fuel tap thread size

Thanks for the info guys. I would reckon either my tank has been tapped out, or, which is more likely, I've been sold a useless brass fuel tap.
Will check it against one in my other 40+ and let you know.

    fuel tap thread size

Hi guys, I'm working on an old (was seized) 40+. It had a glass filter fuel tap on the tank so I decided to change that to a brass fuel tap, however, the thread size on the brass tap is much smaller and won't fit the tank. Can anyone tell me what thread size differences there are in these fuel taps ...

Hi, I would think it should be ok. What might be suggested, your weight at the stern would lift the bow which wouldn't be too clever. You might find it more suitable to sit midship or at least forward.

It must be said, Robin's post makes Hayling Island sound like the Bermuda Triangle, many dangers ahead. I was miffed at first when I saw the classes, no 40+ engines, but now with this knowledge it appears clear to me a bit more power is required for this course. I must admit my intentions are not to...

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what about that, are they bad losers???

H-A, you spent time on your design and engine, you whipped arse, well done.
Are we organising a fun day to pay the fine for H-A? Or should he do porridge???
