Brought "IT" home, 2 questions.........
Well, the 2nd Sea Gull is at the, "Shack for wayward old things"! This one looks like it's been ridden hard and put away wet. Ser# says it June 1975 Silver Century. I have "IT" (no name yet for this one), here at work (warm shop), to let the lower unit drip out, (water and oil). ...

Re: If one is good... then 2 HAS to be better!
My only hope is that there isn't too many close to me here in Pa. Making the addiction run it's course. Maybe I can open my own "Sea Gull Rehab Center"? Most boaters @ here have to run what everyone else runs, "Boat Clones"! Joe Did it say on the Statue of Liberty, "Send me ...

If one is good... then 2 HAS to be better!

Ahhh! You CAN teach and old dawg new tricks!
Was reading through some posts and saw the reason for the silicone sealer!
The head and cylinder are not, smooth? machined? matched?, and the silicone seals the voids.
Snug, let it set and torque down.
Yes, excellent!
Joe
So many toys, so few $$

Watched a "U Tube" video on rering, some questions
Seahorse 1247 did 4 videos on his re-ringing of a Century. Dunno why he had to rebuild , said the rings were good. He had smoked the tear down videos. Here is some things he did that has me wondering.... He checked the thickness of the rings and then the width, same as new rings. That was it. (he ha...

Re: Any Seagull names out there?
I always name boats. THIS truck, ('93 Dodge Dakota), is called, "Blue Gas Guzzling Pig", the other trucks I had were just called "truck" or "jeep". My Subaru Outback is called "Subatruck" cuz I use it as a truck for work. My BMW GS is just "Da Bike" ...

Re: New Sea Gul owner with 1 question
Yes, my BSA lived with a piece of cardboard under it, I used to say it was "marking it's spot"! The MG I had for a year dribbled too, they say to lube bushings and bearings. I ended up buying the S.G., (I KNEW before I went to look at it it was mine)! One tip to keep in the back of your he...

Re: New Sea Gul owner with 1 question
Thanks! I dunno IF it will mix, (Napa "Stay-Lube" SAE 140). The site I looked at was for Sea Gulls, (I typed in "British Sea Gull Lower Unit Oil" and it came up, British Sea Gull Parts.com) All the years I've spun wrenches on cars, trucks, bikes, I can't ever remember pulling a d...

New Sea Gul owner with 1 question
Hello from really cold, snowy North Eastern Pennsylvania! I'm going tonight to more than likely buy a 1969 long shaft Century 4 HP, (like ALL the Sea Gulls I've looked at they all, "haven't been run in a few years" Why is that???). It's going to be use as a "trolling/kicker" moto...
