Re: Float Bowl Question
Jeez, sorry!!!! Never seen anything on a 40 other than a Villiers or Bing. Carb insert eh? I so want one. And the air intake cover is a weak spot, the GF model I paid £18.00 for recently had a perfect Bing carb nissing its cover. What a shame. Oh well.

Re: Float Bowl Question
An Amal 416 wont fit to a 40 series block... Sheridan marine has an extensive catalogue of Bing spares most of which are modestly priced. Carefull and patient monitoring of Ebay yields fine results. The 416 is a nice item, I agree. Big improvenent on the twin-jet. Also the Bing carb is no more delic...

Re: Float Bowl Question
I would suggest substituting a Bing carb. One clear advantage it has is that removing and replacing the float bowl while out on the water would be a piece of cake - no tools required. Also, it suffers much less from the leakage issue you speak of. In my humble opnion (I do ask for it don't I) the Bi...

That's ok Jacob, not staying on topic is a problem for several different groups in society. But any tech info is always interesting.

Re: Clutch stud thread size
You're not blind, it's not here despite recent claims to the contrary. Hole is 3/8" on all models prior to FNR models with the thicker driveshaft tube. There is a chart somewhere on the web which tells you the correct size drill to use prior to tapping, but Charles reckons a 8.5mm bit will do i...

Re: Assorted bits
Well ok! So a fully electronic ignition on a 102 not entirely unheard of. Good to know.
Seriously people I am literally giving these things away, unless you want me to package and post them, in which case some beer money would be nice.

Re: Assorted bits
Yep, an old chap I bought some bits off in Norfolk (who had a very interesting shed) referred to Wipac items as Wipacup...funny guy. Everything will go wrong eventually, use the search term 'entropy' for more info. Still, you are at least helping me to decide what to do with them. Again, thanks to H...

Re: Assorted bits
Hugz,
that's a mk3 I believe. Is it standard?
No no no, I was thinking of a mk2 made to look like (even perhaps only at a passing glance) a mk1.
Martin.

Re: Assorted bits
Hi Hugz That filled in some blanks - thanks again. Issa flat top deffo. I'm mostly focussed on mk 4s...but this would look crappy on a 102 if the rest of it was pretty much standard, I think. Did Seagull ever fit a mk4 to a 102 anyone? I would guess not. But I wonder would a mk1 top and pulley assem...

Re: Assorted bits
Sorry for the late reply, been AFK for a bit... Do they work? Please refer to the original post. Are they rare? I believe they are fairly common. One came from a dead SJP, one from a decent 102 I bought nice and cheap. Don't get excited... the SJP dated from the late 50s, the 102 a similar vintage -...

Nope, haven't spoken to John yet. Yep, I know they are all the same. I have several! But none with the code which would correspond to the very shiny 40 I've put together.
