Re: Off Topic, workshop electrics
Cheers guys, it's a long time since I used to freeze my knackers off on the building sites, my knowledge of materials isn't quite up-to-date. Do they still rope & pour lead for downpipes in Oz? Hugz, red and black was changed when I was an apprentice. Cheers anyway, I know my plan of attack once...

Re: Off Topic, workshop electrics
It's a little bit older than two weeks, in fact it's badly needing rewired, apart from the kitchen where it was partly rewired for renovation purposes. I believe with a chat with an electrician, I could do the wiring in the garage and back to the house, let him inspect it and do the final connection...

Re: Off Topic, workshop electrics
Thanks for your advice, with regulations being strict I'll certainly get an electricians' advice and help. I'm a time served plumber but due to ill health I gave it up, even after doing years of fitting gas supplies and fittings, it's now illegal for me to touch anything gas because I don't hold an ...

Re: Off Topic, workshop electrics
Cheers, I'll take your advice on this one. I can get an electrician to wire up in the house, as per regs. I know about armoured cable so that's fine, it was more a case of, I wasn't sure if the 30amp cable would be ok, I thought it would. I'll do all the donkey work and save cash (a true tight arsed...

Off Topic, workshop electrics
Hi Guys My garage is about 30ft from the house. I'm ok with basic electrics, so I've got a small consumer unit for my garage. I'm putting in about 4 double sockets and a few single. Plus two strip lights. This is no problem. What my question is, I've got a 30amp cooker socket unused in the kitchen, ...

Re: Made another boat.
Looks like theirs going to be hours of work on engines and boats to rectify the wrongs that have happened before the marathon comes round, ha ha. Gerard ps question off the topic, does any of you guys know much about running electricity to a garage workshop? If yes I'll open a thread in general to a...

Re: Made another boat.
Feckin hell, that's embarrassing, that's what you call being destroyed, you couldn've just said he was a bit in front, or he won well.
How did your vessel and engine go (obviously not fast enough) but in general, no lost props or anything???

Re: 29th December 2010 (am)
I'm laughing away here, how silly of me to think there was trust amongst thieves. As for weight, I'm a poultry 10st, just a wee guy. On saying that, I've had the dreaded lurgy for the past few days so I might be a few stone lighter, but 10 is my fighting weight.

Re: 29th December 2010 (am)
Indeed it would be only fair Charles. I will talk more nearer the time, crew or spectator, being part of the occassion might be enough. That's honourable of you to clear H-A's name. I was leg pulling, we all know he made his intentions clear he was out to win. He did, and by all accounts deserved so...

Re: 29th December 2010 (am)
Indeed Charles. Being one of the armchair racers myself, it would be good to get down, unfortunately the distance to drive is the killer for me. Who knows, I might use public transport, turn up empty handed and get a place as crew for someone, would be nice but we'll wait and see. Work and family ar...

Re: Made another boat.
Now the boat's been tried, tested and scored top marks, what was the problem with the engine? Was it the cold or did one of your competitors have to give you some assistance, to their detrement, ha ha. Maybe a small synopsis of how you strategically brought the downfall of Charles and Andy would be ...
