Jeremy, The SJM/SJP's did have the change in the do not remove on the cylinder heads. The early SJP's I have on my data register (under SJP 22051) have blank cylinder heads (they don't have "do not remove" on the heads. Whoops, yes you're right Charles, I got confused...
Still the "n" doesn't make sense in the serial # - maybe a mis-stamp, I'm not sure.

Does anyone else have a seagull with the letter "n" in the date code?

Hello Mike As others have said, you have a very nice motor! From the research I have conducted, I'd say that it would be a 1966. The serial coding with letters in the serial number came in to effect around 1960/61, before that there was just a numbered serial code (if that makes sense). For example,...

Well, at least the seller states, possibly ex-army... 'For the World' flywheel plate is 1953 onwards; it makes sense for the actual powerhead to be around that era...
