stripped down FP pics

Here are some pics of my stripped down FP, it's seized. I was lucky after soaking the gearbox in diesel for a week it became free easily, however the piston is still seized and is proving a bit of a job to move. Unlike some of the guys on the site, I'm not mechanically minded so I'm learning as I go...

Re: Taking piston out

Thanks Phil, the piston is down past the opening of the carb. Here are a load of pics, you can't see the rust deposits on the cylinder block though, so maybe soaking is my option, I will however disconnect the piston rod and give myself more access. http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu297/spiderg1/...

Taking piston out

Hi Guys, can I ask for some help again please? I'm working on a seized engine. I've got it stripped as far as I've not taken the flywheel off, but I've got the driveshaft, exhaust, etc off. I got the gears and the driveshaft moving again, I've now taken off the crakcase cover to expose the piston ro...

Re: Lots of rust

Now we've got talking, I'm off to Tesco for some treacle and I'll try it on something less important than my engine first. I live near a whisky refinery and the guys say molases is used in whisky, but I'm not pouring whisky into my engine. Does anyone reckon viniger could be used. I use it to clean ...

Re: Lots of rust

Now you've got me confused. I am always willing to listen to everyone's ideas, you agree with the brutal way but you think it better to go differently, can you please tell me what you would do if it was your engine. Always like to hear the thoughts of you guys.

Thanks
Gerard

Re: Lots of rust

Thanks Phil, I might resort to this. I would like to get as much dirt out as possible.

Re: Lots of rust

Thanks for the help. I am aware diesel is used a lot, does it attack the rust?

Lots of rust

I've got a seized engine and have started stripping off parts ie the gearbox. The driveshaft was seized but I've got that moving now. One thing I am finding is lots of rust. I took off the carb and the rust in the block inlet is incredible. Has anyone any suggestions for leaning out all this rust? T...

Re: rebrazing tank ends

As far as I'm led to believe it's simpler to solder the ends back on. If you check the site there's discussions on this.
Hope this helps.

Re: Taper needle screw

Hi Rick, I think I sent my details to you, I'm not sure if it has gone out as I haven't done this before and I can still see a message in my outbox.

Re: Need advice please

Just read the topics on this sight, one suggested an angle grinder which I might pass on, however one shows a cut out view of the gearbox, excellent, now I know where I'm going. Just the matter of getting the leg seperated from the motor housing.

Re: Need advice please

I told you I'm a nurd. I haven't taken off the exhaust tube as I was following the worksheet 1 in the manual. I got the gear box off at the bottom two bolts but the driverod is still attached, is this right? I then took the two bolts off under the serial number position but that's where the leg won'...
