Re: New member

Remember that you have a condenser under the points box, that may give you bogus readings, wipac ignitions are more modern, I think you would have to change the flywheel as well if you change.
Its up to you, which way you go.

Re: What mixture?

I beg to differ, oil fuel mix is pretty much a critical factor when it comes to 2-strokes. I have seen first hand on numerous occasions, what happens to motors run without oil or minimal oil, this normally equates to a totally destroyed engine in minutes, to reducing the life of an engine, I have ev...

Re: sd on ebay

You would think that if someone is going to take the time in restoring a motor and asking for that kind of money, that they wouldn't cut corners.
A stainless exhaust and tiller and a a painted drive tube, with the paint already coming off.

Re: Silver Century plus not revving up

It seems to point to the float valve not shutting as you are controlling the fuel by the tap.
Reseat the needle, like you would a car valve maybe, or replace the float chamber completely.

Re: Silver Century plus not revving up

I'm not convinced its a carburettor calibration problem, Did I read that the motor ran fine in the test tank, but not on the boat, I can see the picture of motor on the boat, no tiller extension, so you're sitting right at the back, sorry stern of the boat, how deep is the motor sitting in the water...

In the seventeenth 102 operating book at it says, and I quote : S.A.E. 20, 30, or 40, (we favour S.A.E. 20)
The 102 Nineteenth edition, Use a light S.A.E. 20.

Re: what oil should i use in my seagull?

Nice to hear your father in law is still doing well Keith. Hope I'm still doing all that at his age. I appreciate that. That is one person I do like to listen to, he worked on Lancaster's, servicing the merlin engines, had a job when tool making, to make the tooling for the Ford Wessex engine rocke...

Re: what oil should i use in my seagull?

I can totally understand the reason for using TCW3, if you wish to. I don't agree with using less of it because it's modern, not that you are saying this, I'm just saying that. sae30 weight back in the day might have been all that was available to use for some of you, My info is from my father-in-la...

Re: A little printing project.

I like them too Jon, but some manuals I just know I will never find, that's why I made myself a copy, but on the other hand, I do have seagull manuals and advertising, as well as, Anzani, Seabee, Coventry Victor manuals back to the 30's, including (neptune)(midget)(Type N) and others, 1935 KLG, 1955...

Re: Fuel tap corks

No and yes.
The tap with the cork on comes apart, look at the on/off button, it has i nipple in the middle, use a punch and knock it through, put the new cork on and tap it back together.
