Re: Restoring a Marston OA
Hi Allan, sterling work,is the pepper pot a choke on the carb inlet ( I’ve never seen an OA) does it contain a filter? Back in the sixties, stationed on an island off Hong Kong I owned an Excelsior 150 which had a very similar choke, the filter was metal and had to be washed in petrol and oiled at reg...

Re: Another SD
Spot on Allan the SD was at Arthurs workshop. Hugo, the nut is the one with the dome on top alas the gear lever is missing..........carb, gear lever and tiller would have been used by Arthur for his repairing, only bits left he hadn’t needed yet. Arthur is a time served motor engineer, apprenticed i...

Visiting an old mate, on with the search for a tin tank and bayonet lid and coming away with neither,in fact now I need two tanks and two caps. A very incomplete and seized SD 4205.l.3, JM 6842 ministery mark on box. The piston/flywheel moves freely 1/4” 3/8” observed through stub of missing carbure...

Re: Close ...........No cigar SNP
Thanks guys, I’ve got a better idea of what I’m looking for now. Unfortunately the tank supports are plated brass and the tank straps are plated steel, I used it on a Century hence the homemade bracket. Since Hugo has told me the bottom end is from a later model and it looks like the supports and ob...

Big day, up early off to Plymouth jumble, going from stall to stall “Some one has just been asking for one of those”, and then, on end,on the floor surely not? I’m now striding quickly the 50 foot, looks right, old army paint, tank strap marks, yellow undercoat didn’t Charlesp say his SNP was covered...

Re: SNP 923 X
Hi Hugz of course add it if it’s pertinent. The drive shaft fitted to it is just there to hang it on,its drive shaft is on my Kingfisher hybrid. Thanks to Allan staying away for the last two years it won the Lerryn race at Christmas.

Re: SNP 923 X
Thanks Oyster for the advice I have everything that came with it in the 80’s,however it had a screw brass tank and I did wonder why as my AC has a bayonet brass tank (1947).Perhaps it rusted out? I do read that they were tinned and had a long life. I suppose I’ll have to go to boat jumbles and searc...

Re: 102 ?
The block doesn’t have any fins, the tank is doing duty on a later motor but I’ll replace it soon,I hesitate to say this but the bottom half is on my kingfisher racer and has been for several years.........it’s only since joining this forum that I’ve looked at the serial numbers!
