Re: Seagull backflushing.................
Hi Hugz, Thankyou for your comments. Yep, we like it here, two miles from any road with white lining down the middle, half a mile from the nearest conurbation - a village of some thirty souls; and with our nearest neighbours being Kingfisher, Otter, Kestrel, Buzzard, Blue, Great and Long-tail Tit, R...

Re: Seagull backflushing.................
I find your comment relating to the mystery skeg markings interesting. So far as I know, the crown, which appears to be a King's crown, may not necessarily signify naval pedigree. Back as far as I remember (which, contrary to oft-stated belief among my so-called friends, was slightly after Jesus was...

Re: Seagull backflushing.................
Oh, hats off to your Father; I think the Gannets had moved to Brawdy by the time I joined Culdrose (I don't think the two occurrences were connected). Not only did I spend the bulk of my 'Pusser' time based at Culdrose ( '66-'72), but was at Simbang in Singapore for the first six months of '68, with...

Re: Seagull backflushing.................
Hi Hugz, Love the picture ! Did you get gear oil on the sheet too ? Sense of humour can be so under-appreciated sometimes, although She's played second fiddle to various mechanical treasures for near 22 years now, so her'll do. Yep, guilty as charged. Fleet Air Arm. Airframe and engine mechanic. Swo...

Re: Seagull backflushing.................
Hello Hugz, Thankyou for your kind welcome. Pictures you shall have, as soon as both dinghies are restored to a clean and seamanlike state ( currently replacing the gunwhale cappings, in mahogany - and oak breasthooks. Both engines are looking better now after winter storage, although when I put the...

Seagull backflushing.................
I note within John's pearls of wisdom, is an interesting mention of backflushing our little poppets, with a cautionary word referring to the possibility of getting wet. Suggestion if I may, especially relating to the 'getting wet' bit, there seem to be two preventative choices: Get the Wife to do it...
