Re: No spark

I will try the WD40 and leave overnight, but it sounds like I may need a new/second hand carb. Thanks for all the advice.

Re: No spark

Below is a picture, which I got from the Internet, of a carb that is identical to the one I have. There is no screwed thread on the carb body which would allow the float chamber to be screwed into. Instead the 2 parts just push together. Is this not unusual considering the float chamber would be fil...

Re: No spark

Hi.

When I put the screw back in I can only get only a quarter of a turn back and forth. When the screw is taken completely out it just turns and turns without coming off. Very strange indeed

Re: No spark

How do you dismantle the plastic carb so I can clean it? I have loosed the screw in the picture shown but all that does is to allow the float chamber to turn but it does not come off.

Re: No spark

Does anyone know to dismantle a carburettor on model FPC1723AAP (Forty). When I remove the screw A as shown on the Seagull Carb webpage the float chamber just turns without coming loose.

Re: No spark

Morning all.

Thanks for the advice which I have tried doing with the assistance of a fellow worker but without success. Despite several hammerings, with a rubber hammer, it does not seem to want to move. Will try again later.

Re: No spark

Morning all.

Over the weekend I tried unsuccessfully to pry off the outer casing that holds the points and coil, please see a hazy photograph. Do I require bearings extractor to complete this task.

Re: No spark

Morning all.

I will have to leave taking off this cover until the weekend as I'm currently working away from home. Is the nut that holds on the cover a right or left handed thread? If the plug only produces a yellow spark does that mean there may be something wrong with the coil?

Regards

Re: No spark

Morning all. In the past I cleaned the points, as best I could, through a small opening in the flywheel cover but in order to achieve a better cleaning process I must remove the flywheel cover. Is this difficult to do and are any special tools required? I'm still waiting on the arrival of a new spar...

Re: No spark

There is a yellow spark from the plug. What is the carburettor like to dismantle as they appear a solid unit.

Re: No spark

Hi all.

Someone on another broad suggest use a socket that fits the big nut on the flywheel connected to an electric drill spin the engine over for a few min's and it should charge up and give a spark. Is this true.
