Re: Seagull 40+ for sale

Hello there, I would have thought anyone who was capable of joining the SOS Forum would have done a simple search on EBay Gumtree or the like and would have a rough idea of the value of one of these. Not many many who have really no idea! I still have the mail telling you what it was worth?? I suspe...

Re: Seagull 40+ for sale

Have to say I agree with Oyster and should state I am unhappy to see this sort of money spoken about for a very old Seagull To the buyer, this is a pre 1967 motor with a Villiers ignition. If one of these was offered for sale in a running condition, pumping water, then I would epect it to sell for £...

Re: 4- vs 5-bladed prop on Silver Century

Yes the CLW prop would be the semiweedless for the WSPC models...

They work but not quite as well as the 5 bade Hydrofan. Just look more modern!

Stainless Steel tank straps

At last I have managed to prise the tank straps out of my tame engineers hand.

He had been hiding for 2 years, what with WhuFlu and two new knees!

I have also at last got fresh stocks of the stainless exhaust straps.

See the 'Spares For Sale' page of the SOS site!

Re: bugger!!

That WSPC should have had 4 x 5/16 BSF bolts 1" long. If you can drill them out and clean the threads up, I have stainless head bolts £10.00 a set. To anyone attempring head bolt removal, soak in WD40 or similar for a week. Then use a blow torch on bolts, one at a time, for a couple of minutes. put ...

Re: 4- vs 5-bladed prop on Silver Century

Surprised it fitted, most hubs different depth! Grossly under size. Seen a few with the 4 balde 11" hydrofans fitted to the Century Plus clutch drive, with Villiers carb.... and then swapped for the 5 blade so the motor could rev more...... Bit like the 'trolling prop' fitted to some forty Plus moto...

Re: Which Seagull goes here?

The Squibs that race from Maylandsea here on the River Blackwater, were bilge keel versions locally known as 'Sandhoppers'. The class rules said a Seagull Forty Plus had to be carried, just in case the wind dies and you have to get back before the creek dries out. They mostly had the Seagull stand o...

Re: Early Series Forty Models. F, FV, FVP, LM & LS

Andrew the webmaster is working on the page. For some reason I could not post your new datea sheets even as Word files so asked Andrew. He tells me there was something odd on the page for some reason, nothing to do with the data tables. He had trouble too... Hope to see it up on the site shortly. Re...

Re: Gearbox swapping

The Century had a 5 blade Hydrofan, to absorb the extra power, the Forty Plus just 4 blades. Sadly Seagull have no more WSPC waterpump housings, but I found out the other day, by a quick inspection, that the direct drive casting is the same, just without the 3/8th hole drilled for the clutch rod! Ea...
