Re: Whats she worth
I don't want to sell her but without a boat she's just a shed ornament. Not phishing  and I don't trust e-bay Between £25 & £75... I bought her as a non runner for £49 from a chandlers 6 years ago I still have the reciept (she only needed a new spark plug) I've been offered £70. If she was...

Whats she worth
Due to a change of circumstances (sold my boat and moved back in with my parents to look after my disabled mother) I have to part with the old motor. She's scruffy (dented tank, slight pitting on the chrome) Needs a service, a new throttle cable and a new pull cord (to replace the home made effort) ...

Re: Badgers
The one thing that stuck in my mind, is one of the groups against the cull is called 'Think Badger'... or T.B. for short  Now I understand that both Badgers and Cows can both contract TB I know that cows get 'Bovine TB' The question I have yet to find an answer too is: Do cows contract TB fro...

Re: Green Powder and Dents in the fuel tank
Cool, I've got some caustic soda somewhere :) The paint on the tank is cream crackered anyway and the decals are loooong gone... another job for the list :D As we've mentioned the outside... any ideas on whether I should try getting the dents out of the tank? or do I just leave them as 'patina' Neal

Re: Transom bracket...
I didn't know the plastic bit was anything more than a seat for the leg to sit in... its the broken transom bracket casting that bothers me more than the plastic bit.
I assume the holes in the lower casting are to move the plastic cup back and forth to adjust the leg trim?

Green Powder in the fuel tank
In the fuel tank there is a green powdery substance exactly like the green corrosion found on copper. I have tried rinsing with neat petrol and I've removed the tank, taken the tap off (stuck a trimmed wine cork in the hole) filled it with a handful of nuts (10mm not hazel) added more clean petrol a...

Fly wheel 'play'
My motor runs beautifully.
Nothing catches, binds or grinds and I am happy with it as it is... But, I have noticed the flywheel can be lifted slightly by about 1.5mm.
I know this is the end float and it should have a little movement... but how much is too much?

Transom bracket...
At the bottom of the transom bracket, the plastic horseshoe section the shaft tube sits in and the actual bracket casting have both had the 'open' ends broken off. Its still secure but how easy would it be to neaten the broken casting ends and just replace the plastic 'horseshoe' bit or is it possib...

Re: Pitted chrome and paint.
Hammerite Silver smooth finish is a very good match for the silver, and it's sold in Halfords in rattle cans. Chrome plating is indeed expensive unless you have a batch of stuff to be done. Maybe look around for a local car restorer who may let you put your bits in his stuff? Thanks :D. I didn't ev...

Re: Does too much smoke indicate bad gaskets?
The downword motion pushes the fuel/air mixture out of the crank through port at the bottom of the cylinder, seals it and sucks it out the top port into the cylinder. Once the piston reaches the bottom and starts going back up it sucks fresh mixture into the crank case whilst compressing the mixture...

Pitted chrome and paint.
I rescued my 1965 Century Plus as a non runner from a dusty corner of a small chandlery a couple of years ago... After a clean and new spark plug it is now used in the murky depths that we call the tidal Medway. After every use I run it in a drum of fresh water, hose the leg with fresh water, wipe i...

Not a bad looking boat , Yours I gather. :D http://imageshack.us/f/35/dscn1665x.jpg/ Russ, tried to tell me that my Coventry Victor would be fine on an 8 footer, Its a little heavier than my 50hp Mercury. :D I test ran my Seagull on the back of an 8ft grp dinghy, as soon as it fired I nearly...
