The Oz Seagull owners group having only 7 members in the Apple Isle of Tasmania, we managed to get most of them out on the water on Sunday the 20th May for a short jaunt.
So far have not received any reports, but gather it all went off well. Here's a few pics:

Re: Where are all the European events and 'enthusiasts'..??
To save overcrowding it in a longer email, I've attached an "SoS-specific" version of my Oz 'recruitment poster' made available to our lot over here. Basically, it's an A4 in landscape format with tabs on the bottom for people to tear off...like a 'for sale' item on a local community notic...

Re: Where are all the European events and 'enthusiasts'..??
Glad to see everyone has taken my post with the humour with which it was intended, but CharlesP makes a good point....when you're never more than 75miles from the sea, it's a lot easier to simply use the motors for 'general purposes' rather than feeling the need to either 'race' them or to 'congrega...

Re: Seagull time trials (The 4 hp of the Apocalypse)
Some of the racers have developed electric raising mechanisms that utilise the parallelogram-style yacht transom outboard mounts. Making up something similar with longer arms should raise the motor higher out of the water when not in use.....you'd just need to experiment with a limiting mechanism or...

Where are all the European events and 'enthusiasts'..??
G'day everyone Just taking the opportunity to reflect on what we Aussie Seagull owners have achieved since I was first mad enough to put an 'ad' on ebay 12 months ago....yes, it's our first anniversary! Since late April 2011 we have: - grown email list membership to 91 enthusiasts around the country...

Stainless transom screws
Does anyone know how the handles on the stainless steel transom screws are meant to be held in place in the slot in the end of the screw? One has fallen out and it looks like there might have been solder or something similkar holding it in.... The other one is loose, so I'd like to fix them properly...

Re: Seagull time trials (The 4 hp of the Apocalypse)
The average Seagull 3pt tank will last around 45mins running time..ish... So any event or operation involving use of a Seagull that is longer than 45mins engine running time a remote fueling systems is, as Andy suggested, a great idea to minimise spillage, and maximise safe fuel transfer. For exampl...

Re: Seagull time trials (The 4 hp of the Apocalypse)
Another option is the 'remote fuel tank' using a standard OMC fitting screwed into the hole in the cap where the metal breather screw is. Attach fuel lin to a modern remote tank and use the primer bulb as a pump to refill the Seagull's tank. You will need to drill a breather hole in the cap, so it's...

Re: Needle circlip on late model Amal
Yes, the one Jim tried and then I tried after the 102 overheated. Having pulled it down again and done some more backflushing it ran fine and pumped heaps of water, as seen on the video on the Bobbin Hd thread.... Will experiment with the needle setting as it seems to be running ok on the lower sett...
