Re: anti-cavitation plates
Most of the ones I saw in NZ were roughly 'shield shaped' - with a definite point towards the centreline of the keel, peaking just in front of the forrard face of the 'box, while the rear overhang was about 100-200mm, and side overhang was about the same. So roughly 300-400 long and approx 200-300 w...

Re: Nice engine
Price depends on condition, Rob. But proprietary parts are made from 'unobtainium' and Bruce in Perth is the best point of contact...he knows of a few other Olympic owners. So although an eBay find may look like a relative bargain, you may need two or three in order to get enough good parts to make ...

Re: Could we race across the English Channel?
LOL!!
Can't see you being knocked down in the rush!!!
AAA, watched a doco, 'Coast' with Neil Oliver, covered the Channel Islands a week or so back. Fascinating place. Envy. Envy.
WIWL will come for a visit.
Reckon the 'free Seagull' might still be up for grabs, even by then!

Re: anti-cavitation plates
Well, if they truly don't work, why do almost all the Kiwi Seagull racers swear by them???? I tried WS motors with and without on the Waikato trip and 'without' one was was noticeably slower and had to have the motor far deeper in the water... ...ergo, they must at least (thru being higher) reduce d...

Re: YUMPA!..........Gull Clone
The "water tractor", apparently, accoding to the video - but my Spanish is very bad. Notice how many close similarities there are with Seagulls: the tiller arm like a 102, the wire clip holding in the HT lead, the clutch lever and so on.....but the 'yanqui' style wrap-around fuel tank....m...

Re: SDP restoration
So does that mean it's got the wrong box and prop, or is the photo in the OP not the same motor? In that pic it looks like a standard box with normal 2-blade SD prop..... Aren't the 'Plus' versions called 'barge-pushers', with a big fat 'box and a huge 13" 4-blade prop? Or am I misinterpreting ...

Re: Price Guide?
OK, cool, so if we need pics of cut-away sections for the Guides we can get them by asking here...no need to buy a motor to get them.
In which case, no, I won't be bidding!

Re: Price Guide?
It looks almost as good as your cut-away drawing Keith! Doesn't John have one that was done by the Seagull apprentices, or is that only photos? Sure I saw it somewhere....... ...or was it CP who had the photos, I forget..??? Just wondering if it might be worth snapping up to photograph for the Guide...

Re: Mystery Outboard
Looks like it's air-cooled, judging by the fins on the block - and I'm guessing the Victa starter is a 'modification'.... Anzani???? Villiers???? Or an early Jap motor??? C'mon, Bruce, wake up!! [BTW, Bruce, if you read this, your 'usual' email address is bouncing with a 'does not exist' message.......

Ok, so here's a good case in point..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320832670334&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123 As I write it has been bid up to AU$401, whihc, for what it 'appears' to be, I'd say is a bit exxy. From my relative lack of intimate knowledge of Seagulls...

Re: Price Guide?
I agree with CP - what appears a bargain to a Seppo might be considered daylight robbery elsewhere. For example, US$500 for an 'unknown condition' but apparently intact and reasonable looking Seagull seems excessive - until you consider that 'similar looking' and equally unwarranteed Yank iron can b...
