Re: Another early 102 on eBay
Nice original engine, these early post war 102s are becoming a welcome addition to a collection.

Re: Adrian Dale
Sorry to hear this, I sold a ON to him some years ago, and delivered it to his son who lives near me.

Not saying it would be easy, but certainly doable, I don’t want to hijack the thread.

Re: 1/4 scale
That's remarkable work, love the detail! You could make a copy of a marston block like that to use as a pattern to cast in aluminium. Just thinking out loud

Re: Marston Twin
Yes, one cylinder above the other, and two versions, direct drive or with FNR gearbox. Not many about, I think 5 known to exist, one recently re-emerges in the US. Rated (in Marston adverts) as 10hp. Actually not the rarest seagull, But certainly the most mysterious! Good to see this one being share...

102 decals
This is the first time I’ve had an original decal and one of the new ones side by side. Pretty good reproduction I’d say. The new one is actually 10 years old

3 Blade bargepusher prop
I'm on the lookout for a 3 bladed bargepusher prop to complete my very original HSD. Does anybody have one? Cash, swap or whatever waiting!

Re: HSD12704.L
Cleaned the tank tonight, keen to preserve the original decal. I used paraffin, to degrease and soak, then filled with caustic and left to soak for an hour, then repeated. Finally a wash with washing up liquid and a brush. Nearly all the decal is still there 8) This is an early brass tank, and it’s ...

Re: HSD12704.L
I sent the gearbox down to H-A who kindly drilled the bolt out on his mill for me.
Re the prop, ive obtained a 4 blade prop, which will do for now, but I'm still on the look out for a 3 blade bargepusher as and when one can be found.

Re: HSD12704.L
Doing a bit more, HT lead made up, using cloth covered cable, magneto assembled, and tested, nice blue spark from a NOS 8 COM plug! Carb stripped for cleaning. Just waiting a pair of new jets from John, and the gearbox end cap gasket, seems I got the last two John had in stock 8) Just the tank to cl...

Re: HSD12704.L
Cheers Jeremy, I'm certainly very interested in preserving originality where its possible nowadays, its only original once, and with this very rare engine that's important. Luckily it was very oily and well preserved, a big bonus. With this one I'm overhauling but little or no cosmetic work, apart f...

Re: HSD12704.L
More progress, gearbox arrived from from H-A, engine now coming together
next job to overhaul the HT lead, petrol tap and tank, again minimum work to overhaul but no cosmetic work other than cleaning and making good.

Re: HSD12704.L
Nice one
I’ll make a slightly bigger bolt, and just nip it down. Perfect

Re: HSD12704.L
Looking good. That bolt was proper solid, I heated it up first, and it still sheared! Like the mounting in the mill 8) Thanks for the help 8) Powerhead now back together, new securing studs fitted, a few rust patches on the cylinder wire brushed, and wiped over with WD40, no other work. New coil arr...
