Re: RNLI, we can help!

Interesting comments about the 'beach police' as I came across them this summer on Fistral Beach. They had a very good setup with 2 swim/bodyboard areas, one either side of the surfers only area. Not only did they have the guys on the beach but also a jet ski and a guy in the water with the body boa...

Re: New project - what do you think...?

Ok...

Mk6 Hull with a few changes made, looks more 'boaty' at the front now ! :D
New Hull 06_Linesplan.jpg
Its also shorter by 350mm, making it a shade over 10ft, which is ideal as its got to fit on the Land Rover !

Re: New project - what do you think...?

I'll have a play with bow widths etc and then get on with building it ! It's designed to use 3 sheets of ply with a double skinned transom fo...

Re: Way off topic Volvo diesel

What condition is the pump housing in..? there is a tolerance IIRC for the impeller to housing in the repair manual as the impeller can be fine but if the housing is badly pitted then it may not be pumping properly. Is the inlet strainer in decent nick - mine seemed ok, but was collecting rubbish ve...

Jimbob A bit more info would be useful here.. What engine is it etc, which you can get from the Serial Number. This then gives an idea of weight, and then you can work out if there is a lighter engine. Also, whats the boat its on..? Again, this will help as you might be overpowered for the boat size...

Crankcases were, I suspect, always bare aluminium. Charles Reading that makes me think someone had definitly had the paint pot out to mine - I stripped silver paint off from under the crud on the crankcase. The tank had a few different layers - I went back to bare metal then primed and sanded betwe...

Looks good, i could never get my bracket to come up that colour. Just one thing, is it only the later gulls that have to be painted? Pizey, Bracket was soaked in washing soda to get the caked on crud off, then a wire brush on the drill sorted the rest... The brass tube was fun to do - it is a tight...
