hi,
I had an enging from the old Seagull factory that had been modifyed by the drilling of a small hoe, abour 5mm in the underside of the warer jacket, in the exhaust. There was a 6 inch length of 5mm OD copper pipe, set in the hole with sealant/locktite.
I rebuilt the motor, a model 90, which is in the hands of a friend of mine, who uses it on the inland waterways of UK. So far it seems to work fine, less noise and no overheating. The water outlet on the block is left standard. The holes in the exhaust were covered with large s/s jubilee clips. There has been no problem with backpressure and starting. After another year, I will strip it to see what the motor looks like inside, if any sign of water in it.
So far so good!
Regards, John SOS
