The screw is the locating and holding screw for the ign backplate. It locates in a small dimple in the upper crankcase. Don't over tighten as it can distort the top bearing. Often impossible to move after 30 years or so.
Both types use the same method of location. Will try to get a pic of this on the site.... Lots to go on in the new year.....
