Finding BSF threads might be a problem in S/S.
I see no reason why S/S could not be used, Seagull did fit a lot near the end of production, however Ali and Stainless are not good bedfellows if immersed in salt water. To be honest it might be easier to replace with steel and paint.
Head bolts have the extra problem, they are part immersed in a hot, maybe saltwater jacket?! As it is they are often impossible to remove without breakage. The old addage applies, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'
