Thanks for that data, is that a picture of an intake silencer on the Featherweight (2nd down on the left of the Home page)? My idea would be to use carby with a diaphram instead of a float bowl (I dislike that horrible black goo that drains from the tilted carby) mount it on an elbow facing the fuel tank and then run an intake tube aound the motor as you have described.
