The Engine Lettering Codes listed on the scanned documents in the Model Identification section raised a few questions/observations:
· The early codes followed OA, OB, though to ON. OI & OL are skipped which is consistent with the Month codes that are used to date the models from 1963. However, OC & OD are also skipped. Could these have been used for the 340cc Super High Power?
· ED, EC & EHC are listed for the 102 at the bottom of one of the documents and also appeared in the Service Manual. However, by combining information from 2 of the scanned documents it appears AC, AD & AHC were used from 1946 to 1956/57. Were ED, EC & EHC actually ever used?
· The scanned documents don’t list EGF & GEF for the Model 45, EGFPW for the Model 60 or AFPC for the Model 55. However, they all appear in the Service Manual. Were they used?
· The WD is listed on the scanned document for the 102 from 1967 to 1973. However, WD is also appears to be mentioned in the context of the 102s made for the MoD during the war. Is this correct as the WD only appears once in the scanned documents. If so the earlier WD could have stood for War Department. Was it used twice?
· A clutch version of the Kingfisher is listed in the QB Service Manual under KC. Could KC have been the code for that model?
· WSP appears in the service manual. Is it correct and what model was it for?
Has anyone got any answers or thoughts?
