Hi Rob, Yes silencing the induction is just what 'Seagull' did on later engines. The simply ducted the air intake via a plastic tube attached to intake, other end on flywheel housing, where the air got pulled past the ign, from a slot on the other side of the casing. Induction noise is a large part of all noise, but on a 'Seagull' another factor is the open acess via the sort of carbs they have, in other words you can almost see the pison working through it.!! No wonder it's noisy!
