Peter: Thanks for the ideas. When the pitting is too deep, not much can be done except paint-ugh-I am still looking for SS pipe (not tube-too thin). Has anyone been able to remove the top flange/collar, As I mentioned It looks like it was sweated on and then the whole part chromed, I have many 'birds and completely rebuild them.
