Hot dip galvanised involves coating the steel item with a layer of Zinc isn't this the stuff they make sacraficial anodes out of (sorry about the spelling) so one would expect this to dissolve quickly. Just like the anode. Seagull tried making the drive shaft tube out of stainless steel but found this flexed under load & hit the drive shaft. Is brass less or more prone to this than stainless or would you have to use bronze for stiffness at a much higher cost? Drive shaft tubes can be rechromed often at more cost than a new tube, if they are still available for your pride & joy.
