Hi Jim, I restore these old birds as a hobby, you may have seen one or two on ebay. Re chroming is prohibertively exspensive, in the UK any way. I use stainless steel as a two part sleeve. One part above the thrust bracket swivel, and one below.I tap a 6mm hole in the leg and use a very short stainles bolt on the side that faces the transom. The "gap" between the two pieces I cover with an electrical insulation product called "heat shrink". When warmed with a hot air gun it shrinks and glues itself. A light smear of lanolin or waterproof grease helps the leg to turn.It does mean of course redrilling the two pairs of over pressure holes in the stainless "sleeves". I have used this on my own pair of engines (sailing boat & dinghy) for three years now and all is well. Hope this helps. Peter.
